Sorta the Rings, you know? Except Canadian. The things I'm going to put them through, hahaha!
Anyway, I jumped on Bluesky so if you wanna follow me there, I drop art just about every day. Link in the comments.

I too am stuck on how bright this looks. Even for art that physically glows, sometimes a photo of a bright thing doesn't look bright. But I've caught myself squinting at images of a solar eclipse. Feeling brighter than #FFFFFF is an optical illusion.
Here, I think the key is the linework. It's still dark around the fuller. Any digital gradient could add a haze toward the sword. But because the closest outline is darker than that would make it, your brain says that must not be what's happening. Surely all these outlines and shadows are still black. (Well, umber.) Even the pixels that are navy blue.
It's like that chessboard shadow thing - our brains see contrast, not value. So near the hilt it's pure white, but the gradient tells your brain what color the pure white is. The whole shape becomes blue that's too blue.
