I know flies can tell you an insane amount of info about pretty much everything they touch but I just find them so boring 😂 maybe I just can't see the forest for the trees as they are so common and obsolete. None the less I do of course value them and understand their contributions to their environments and the other creatures that dwell within them.
We have a small migration of Asian hornets trying to invade us via France, but we've been trying to keep them at bay lest they kill our bees!

Flies, like any flying insect, help with pollination (yes, even the very unpopular mosquitoes, who actually feed mostly on plant juices and nectar!). Flies also have so many more different species than you might expect, actually quite a deep rabbit hole to go down into. :3 They're also important for... well, being eaten by their predators, which we do need to assure their predators to stay around. It's all perfectly balanced if we don't intervene... which we unfortunately do a lot. >w>
Even the Asian Hornet I'd argue would not be an issue at all without us impacting the planet. Death is a natural part of nature, we need death to have life, but thanks to climate change, the Asian Hornet is forced to find other more suitable places to inhabit, places which don't have enough in nature to keep them in check. Though humans have been endangering bees in more ways than that, especially through habitat destruction and pollution. Funnily enough though, as I've just read up on, one of the lifeforms who could actually decrease the numbers of the Asian Hornet is a fly. "The endoparasitic fly Conops vesicularis has been found to attack V. velutina queens in France." Hehe, the more you know~

Didn't realise they pollinate. I've never seen a fly on a flower before. And if a mosquito eats mainly plant juice why do their stomachs fill will blood so they are red. We never see pollon coloured bodies on them? Genuine question! I would love to hear more. I know they are food for predators, especially my dog who hates them and tries to bite them out of the air. 🤣
You are very wise. Teach me Senpai 😎🤩 hornets are pretty, but also nasty little fuckers.

Female mosquitoes only go after blood during the reproduction part of their lives. Only because we typically only see them while they're on the hunt for blood doesn't mean that's how they are all the time, it's just that they have by far the most human contact during that specific time, making it look to us like that's all there is to them. :3 I have seen various flies on flowers before, especially several species of drone flies.
Many hornets aren't as aggressive towards us as we assume them to be~ Though, still, don't get too close unless you're sure it's a species that is safe to be close to and if it's not already looking agitated. :3 And avoid hectic movements.
