I'm not all that much for railway vehicles; I'm far more of a car and motorcycle junkie, but OMG that thing is beautiful. Sexy even. 2000 horses driving a pair of 750kW gennies. Comparable to today's locos.

It makes me sad that we discard comfort and artistic style in our transportation system today. I suppose Amtrak might want a bit less drag and air resistance but I don't think artistic style needs to be sacrificed considering that the rails don't allow high top speeds for safety and there are a frequent number of stops. I'm so sick of cars, trains, and planes being little more than drag resistant sardine cans. I also miss steel in cars. The old cadillacs with wings could pretty much demolish anything they hit with little damage to themselves. Cars today seem to implode on contact.
