This is not new, I just think it's worth uploading. I colored a line drawing of Guanlong (done in 2007) in October 2009 to use as a pose on a graphic chat. I still like how it turned out (colors based on a knobbed hornbill of course!) and thought it would be nice to upload as its own piece. The face is a bit bonier than I'd like, but I still like the lines.
Guanlong wucaii is a crested ancestor of Tyrannosaurus rex. It's close relative, Dilong, had proto-feathers. So it's and educated guess that Guanlong most likely had proto-feathers similar to the ones shown in Dilong.
I've also heard speculation about the Guanlong specimen possibly being a juvenile Monolophosaurus jiangi. I guess the jury is still out with those arguing that growth features of a Guanlong specimen support it being an adult. Fascinating!
