I have a number of battery powered LED lanterns around the house. As often as we lose power I keep them at hand!

A couple of weeks ago we lost power mid-morning. Blue skies, no wind. I used my cell phone to call the power company. The guy who answered said he didn't know my area was out. He asked what street I was on so I told him. "Hmm. Got it, yeah."

"How about now?"

The lights came on and the refrigerator started running. Beats having to wait for a team to show up!

This week. A new house went in across the street a few years ago. My jerk neighbor stole the copper plumbing and wiring three times. The police finally caught him and he did a little jail time.
