And that concludes my longest story yet in the Uranus Chronicles. Took forever to write, but it was worth it.
The next episodes that take place after this are “Glyder, the Misfit Puppy” and “Puppy Goes Home”, two real, broadcast episodes that started Petey’s short second season, The Puppy’s Further Adventures. Both are available online, and – as if the second title wasn’t enough of a spoiler – depict Petey and Dolly finally being reunited with their family.
I have a dilemma now. I’ve scripted and am in the middle of writing an expanded version of “Puppy Goes Home” that includes Robert and Charlie, and yet keeps Petey and his canine friends’ involvement in the story faithful to the original version. Usually I would never post a story written even partially by someone else, given my limited understanding of fair use, plagiarism, copyrights, etc. etc., but this episode affects so much of what happens after – and my expanded version raises the stakes so much higher – that any fanfic I post afterwards would be seriously out of context.
So, I’m going to ask you, my faithful readers and followers: Do you want to see my expanded version of this episode, and is it okay to even put it out here? I’m going to repeat this question in an upcoming journal entry to double its chances of being noticed. If I don’t hear any objections, I will begin posting the story when it’s ready, and I promise to give full credit to the original episode’s original writer and make no claims to his work.
And as always,
Petey, Dolly, Duke, Dash, and Lucky are © Ruby-Spears, Hanna-Barbera, and Warner Brothers, based on characters created by Jane Thayer. I make no claims to any of them.
Jana, Montaro, Ghost, and Tiko are © Hanna-Barbera and Warner Brothers, based on characters created by Doug Wildey. I make no claims to them either.
However, I definitely make claims to Robert, Charlie, and all other characters in this story, who are © me, RC Gumby.
