Bit of a meta explanation. Art (Bear) is my sona, has been for years, but Sam (Possum) and Kaye (Cat) are both my IRL partners sonas (they love both cats and possums so it fit perfectly). Those two are a representation of the way they see themselves (both fem and nb depending on the situation). Kaye is their fem side while Sam is their more gender neutral side, though leaning more fem.

So all three Prebens are in a thruple situation narratively. The full story is that they kind of stumbled into a thruple, as each liked one another independently and eventually realized it would be better to just be together. Sam is often the one who stirs things up, often to the dismay of Kaye who prefers order, and Art, who often has to deal with the aftermath of the Possum's scheming and outbursts.

Long ago, the Bear learned to just stick close to Sam when they went out to places like the gym, the store, or any public place where the Possum might interact with other people, to act as the scary partner to dissuade others from engaging with the Possum when inevitably they said something inflammatory or let their anger get the best of them.

Sam has caught on though, and more often than not Art is unknowingly antagonizing the situation by emboldening the Possum to mess with others more when they go out, thinking there aren't many who are willing to deal with the literal Bear in the room.
