Her name is Varenna the Spiked — a name known in many taverns and adventurers’ camps. Born in a small kobold village on the edge of an old mine, Varenna grew up surrounded by stone, dust, and underground tunnels. For others, these were dungeons filled with monsters; for her, they were places full of wondrous discoveries and new adventures.
She quickly learned to read tracks on stone slabs, hear breathing in the corridors, and sense weaknesses in an enemy’s armor — as well as the energy of every monster, instantly gauging how strong the opponent was. At first, Varenna accompanied only small-time adventurers like herself, but soon enough she proved that she could lead even an experienced mage or an overly confident knight out of any dungeon.
Now, her services are paid for in hard coin. She is not just a guide — she is a “living compendium” of dungeons. Varenna knows where traps are hidden, what weak spots a golem guardian has, and how many times you need to strike a troll’s eye before it falls.
In battle, Varenna does not linger in the shadows. She stands side by side with those she leads, taking the blows herself like a true shield. Her two-handed blade with a jagged edge has become a legend — many claim she won it after defeating a demonic hound from the depths.
Despite her stern demeanor and habit of demanding payment upfront, Varenna has saved more than a few who were all but doomed. She may grumble and call rookies “dumb bags of bones,” but deep down she is always the first to throw herself into danger to pull them out of a monster’s claws.
For her, dungeons are home, and every expedition is both thrill and challenge — one that brings not only gold but also the feeling that no one knows these dark labyrinths as well as she does.
