“To kill a vampire there appear to be many methods. Staking is known and was found early. Small town incidents lead to superstitions which ultimately saved the lives of many as we drove wooden spikes into our deceased loved ones for peace to return to the night, but it isn’t always so easy. Many vampires and creatures alike were left unchecked and preyed on large communities with no conflict, turning an entire town to their zombie-like Stirgoi minions. They wander the woods and lair in abandoned or destroyed homes, they were simple enough to hunt and stop…
But then came the first Vampire Lords, who took time to seek out positions of power and unseat or enthrall nobles and local political figures, replacing them in the social status of Human civilization. They learned the value of keeping some of their stock human and enthralled them to their will. I believe some even surrender themselves willingly to the night, expecting some grand transformation instead of a bloodless husk they became.

It became clear with the amount of minions and other tools at their disposal entire parts of the country became unsafe quite quickly, as these Vampire Lords were untouchable day and night with rotating chaff of enthralled humans and vampiric Stirgoi keeping watch at all times. Unless equipped for war and several men strong, man would never stand a chance.

The Gargoyle however, walks unhindered and fearless into the domain of beasts. I followed meekly behind, but it became clear she intended to use me as some sort of bait.. finally my purpose is made clear..
I shall write of our encounter later.. but what is clear now is the stake of not the only method to kill a vampire. While she bore fangs and drank her fill of blood, the removal of the head and the heart allows for the essence of the vampire to be absorbed fully by the Gargoyle. The biological nature of the beasts appears infused with magic. When she was done with the ritual-like specticle it was like a haze left the air, I could breath easily and the candles shined brighter than before.
