The reason is, that I got to watch the great mouse detective for the first time in 2010, but never came arround to draw this character. In a later rewatch, I grew a liking on him.
Maybe what was confusing for me was his german voice actor Edgar Ott, who was well known to perform good guys in Disney movies (King Triton, Thomas O´Malley, Baloo,...)
Nope, not really. His ego can be crushed so easily.

Oh this is an outrageously good bound and gagged Rattigan! =D you really captured his fury over his situation ^^
The great mouse detective has always been one of childhood favourites even though I never owned a copy. I really loved the characters and all the good goons-background characters like in the tavern scene. Plus the movie has surprisingly great bondage scenes^^

Second that. ( ^_^ )/
Instead of a back from the dead story, the series could have been a full fletched prequel to the movie, since Basil and Ratigan knew each other for a long time allready.
And come to think of it, the ending in the Disney movie is a slightly altered version from the scenario at the "Reichenbach-Falls", where Holmes and Moriarty fought against each other and fell down the waterfall, most likely to their deaths.
Arthur Conan Doyle wanted to end his story of Sherlock Holmes there, but readers and fans demanded more stories with him, until Doyle became annoyed, but he accepted and brought back Holmes to life.^^

With the amount of great bondage scenes we had on the film, I was always a bit disappointed we couldn't see this big guy in a similar predicament. I'd have certainly prefered a resolution where he is tightly bound and gagged, taken away a la Alameda Slim, struggling and grunting behind his gag, than the one he actually got. Still, definitely a pretty great film, and your take on him is perfect, as one could have imagined.
HAH! YES! YES! YES!!!! It's about time this sexy rat drama king got tied up and gagged! You, my friend, deserve an award for this! :D Especially if this was your first time drawing Ratigan, he looks so good, you did an amazing job copying the original style, while also staying true to your own! :D
You're very welcome! You deserve every single word. :D *hugs*
Nothing wrong with that; I use references all the time. x3
Oooh, really?! I didn't know that, though it makes sense; both Ratigan and the Beast are such huge, powerful anthros with such elegant refinement, albeit with a brutal edge. :D
