A birthday art to celebreate 3 years of having ashe as an OC!!!!
And a story to flesh out her lore more!
The nightmare had concluded. Ashalynna was free from the nightly terrors and unspeakable acts she would involuntarily commit against the general populace of the forest glades. Countless innocents hunted for bloodsport, helpless to escape the wrath of the demonic essence that once ruled her nights. That would all end. Restitution would be another story.
Bound to a demon, forsaking the teachings she once followed dearly, and stooping to lows she never imagined she'd find herself; What could she do? "What can I do," she pondered, standing before the crumbling gateway to the church's main area. The building would remain a crippled husk of its former glory, bastardized for corrupted rituals, and schemes of the once welcomed guest. one such desecration of her own doing. "Forsaken or not, My former sisters deserve their rites."
Placing a bandaged paw on the fractured wooden door, she paused. Chills ran down her spine as she attempted to garner the strength to breach the sanctity of a holy place. The demon inside held no sway on her heart; despite its endless rambling within her soul; It was only herself holding her back. She'd lived through hell three times, solace was but a crippling burden to bear after so long without knowing peace of mind. She resumed inward, stepping foot on the sacred grounds she once kept.
"I'm home," she announced, "It's Ashalynna."
there was no reply. An expected outcome, equally as unpleasant as if there was someone to return her decree. Walking to her quarters, she sighed. Nothing had changed since the day she lost herself. Bed unmade, books still marked; if not withered away with dust and decay; Home. Squatting on the edge of her wooden bed, a damaged book swept from its slot in a decorative shelf, time flew by as she read up on lessons she should not have been expected to learn for years to come; Burial rites, and preparation of the deceased.
6 feet deep, 8 feet long, 3 feet wide. One for every one of her sisters, and the one who started this all. Even the damned should receive their rites, begrudgingly so. Now was not the time to let hate consume; But it never specified where she had to bury the remains. The church accommodated a small graveyard site; plots designated for the older members, as well as extra space for those who would become close with those who operated the church. Undug graves, and restless souls longing for their passage; She began her journey to the end.
Shovel, after shovel she worked her way through the grave sites. Uprooting mounds of dirt one after another as the days grew long, and the moon haunted the sky. Wounds healing slowly under constant aggravation; spilling new blood frequently as skin stretched, and tore itself apart beneath a tattered cloth on her hand. "Almost d-"
She paused. Hearing shouting in the distance. A group of voices sounding off in tandem. Even if the threat of being hunted by her unwilling associate was gone, there were still dangers lurking in the forest at night. Perhaps someone else got lost in the woods, or a rescue party dispatched to search for someone. The voices grew louder;
A smug sounding voice echoed through the trees, "Don't worry buddy, I'm sure your parents will find your body, Eventually," It laughed a deviant laugh, Enthused by its own bravado.
"Would be a lot easier to just kill her at home, and call it a day," another voice commented.
Ashalynna began to crawl out of the pit she had been digging, Something was wrong, and she needed to do something. Using her paws for leverage, She let out a pained whimper as she continued to destroy her damaged paw further,
"Jay, Get the gun, Someone's out here."
Rushing through the woods towards the church site, a Lizard with a rifle stood at the edge of the treeline, "Move, and you're dead," he shouted, aiming downwards at ashalynna as she remained on her knees, bleeding on the ground. "A nun," he questioned, perplexed by the situation, having known the status of the church building for 2 years prior. "Stand, slowly," he declared, aiming squarely at her head.
Calmly, Ashalynna followed his orders; not everyone can dodge bullets, and it'd feel wrong to tempt fate at this point. rejoining the group of voices she heard, 2 more men stood before her, brandishing rudimentary weapons, Sticks picked from the forest floor, branches snapped off into makeshift clubs. "a nun?" one of the men pondered, just as baffled by the situation as the man with the gun.
Jay shrugged, "I don't know, Just have to deal with her too I suppose." Shoving Ashalynna in the back towards a captive girl, tied up, and gagged. "I'm not killing a nun, Seems like bad karma."
Ashalynna looked down at the girl. The fear in her eyes. She didn't know what to do; what was going to happen. Ashalynna knew; She knew all too well. She had done it before; every night for the past 2 years. She knew she had to hunt one more time. "It's okay little one... It'll be over soon..." The anger in Ashalynna's eyes spoke clearly. Her gaze locked on the child's eyes, watching as the sound of footsteps got closer. "My name is Ashe... RUN-"
Raising her hand, Ashe intercepted his swing, grasping the far end of the branch, getting punctured by stray slivers of wood. Dragging her assailant closer, disarming him with a swift twist of the branch, cutting him open just as effortlessly as she had herself moments ago; Standing with him placed between the gunman, and herself. "KILL HER!" he shouted, blissfully ignorant to Jay's intentions, and disposition in this all. Just as effortlessly as she dismantled their plans, She vanished amongst the dense trees, whisked away into the night.
Marching through the endless sea of trees, and moonlit shadows, the three would slowly fall to discourse, losing sight of their goals and comradery, unaware of what was lying in wait. "Why didn't you shoot her!" He shouted, trying to break a new tree branch to replace the one he lost. "Now we have to find them both, and kill them!"
Jay stared blankly at him. contemplating what would be the best course of action to take in this moment. "I can fix that," Raising his weapon; he fired. rewriting history in the present, He caught a stray bullet. "Any complaints Erik," he asked, while turning to his other accomplice. Erik shook his head in compliance, "good. Now, we find the girl."
"And the nun," Erik added, attempting to confirm Jay's intentions beyond basics. Having seen how short sighted he was just moments before, despite being perceptive enough to know he didn't have a clear shot earlier. "You saw what she did, We are in-"
Before he could finish his words, Jay had fired once more. "Over our heads?" Jay mocked. "That sounds like a complaint," He muttered, staring downward at his companion, slowly leaking blood onto the forest floor. "Both of you-"
A faint rustling of leaves from above caught his ears. Swiftly, he turned to fire upwards into the canopy. Bullets ripping through treetops, and scattering bits of debris upon himself. Paranoid had gotten the better of him, And rightfully so. The presence of a demon descended upon him like rain; Ever present, all encompassing.
Erik let out a bellowing laugh as he continued to fade, entertained by the rather quick decay of Jay's cruel facade. "What you scared for?" he jested, hatred filling his eyes as he watched from the stump of a tree, grasping at his wound, hoping to prolong the show that was being put on. "Dance scales, Dance!!" Death didn't have to be boring; he had the rest of his life ahead of him, and no better way to spend it than with your 'friends'.
"Fuck you!" Jay shouted, aiming his firearm at Erik once again; pulling the trigger one final time before the end.
Instantly, something grasped his throat, and pulled him back; his shot missing its mark. A faint pink glow emanated just out of his view below his chin. Attempting to raise his arm, It would not move; His legs, also held steedfast. All he could see was a faint glow emanating around him, slowly growing tighter, pinning him against a tree. Jay frantically looked around, looking to Erik for answers, even shifting his gaze to Mallo in hopes something would make sense, though he was already long dead.
As he remain motionless, the grip around him tightened slowly. His ankles and wrist slowly constricted; his neck, inching closer and closer to becoming one with the tree he was held against, restricting his ability to breathe, slowly fading away into a permanent sleep, as the faded figure of the nun emerged from the treeline, disk of the same ping glow emanating from her hands. 'oh', he thought, as his story ended, and his body was released from her grasp.
Ashe glared downward at the man slowly bleeding to death, a smile on his face, even as he witnessed cruelty far beyond his own. "May you find peace in the ending," She declared, having watched the events unfold herself. Glancing to the other body that lay massacred in cold blood, she sighed. "May you find peace as well," before fading away into the forest, a heart heavy from needless bloodshed.
"I'm a monster," Ashalynna declared, shamefully staring down at a cup of coffee before her. Her eyes could not meet the eyes of the person sitting before her, regardless how much she may wish to confront the man who saved her days prior.
Clock shifted his gaze from behind his mask, patiently waiting for an over eager server to take the hint, "Did you really have a choice?" he questioned, sorting the carton of sugars that'd been left on their table. "They were going to kill you, right?"
Ashalynna edged the cup forward, disinterested in partaking in any form of pleasure at the moment. "It is not right to take someone's life," she declared, eyes wondering the dinner's layout, searching for any possible exit she may have should things not go how she wanted.
"But they were ready to take yours," he swiftly added, letting the fact linger for a moment before continuing. "They were ready to take that girl's life; Did she deserve that?" Clock stared at Ashe from behind his mask. Waiting for an answer. Hoping she would dare answer. But silence hung over them.
"It's still not right," She muttered. grasping her wrist with shredded paws, and bloodied bandages.
"Then make it right," he declared, tossing a stray pack of sugar in her direction, striking her in the shoulder. "I don't think you're in the wrong. Plain and simple." The coyote glared at him with saddened eyes, "If you really feel that bad about it, You can live under my watch until you feel like you can live without being supervised."
thoughts began to circle through her mind, unsure or what this may entail, or what might happen if she couldn't keep things under control. "But what if I hurt someone?!" she questioned, "What if i can't control myself?!"
Clock shrugged, "I don't know. I haven't thought that far ahead," a crooked smile rested on his face, mirroring the one placed on his mask, "I honestly doubt you'll need to worry about those things." attempting to flag down a waitress, he continued, "If you accidentally slip up, I'll stop you."
Ashe perked up slightly; mind at ease, and heart calmed, having questions, and not wanting answers. "Thank you, Jester."
"And if I slip up, I expect you to stop me as well."
"Iris, This is Ashalynna. She'll be staying here a while."
Iris Looked up at the towering hound before her, "Hello, Ashalynna."
Ashe looked down at the small child draped in oversized clothes, No mask, and a set of wings, "She... has wings," ashe muttered, confused, and bewildered, "Hello, Iris. It is nice to meet you."
