Raydl, Black Angel, the most powerful of Jayli's three forms. A largely experimental image based on a sketch I did in class. I've always wanted to incorporate more magic into Jayli and especially Raydl's character, seen as how she is particularly talented with it, and having before described her gryphon form as being born of magic, wings rendered by fire as burning blades, that sort of thing... well... I thought this was an interesting interpretation of it.
The other experimental aspect of this image is the style. I don't normally do lineart, but it seemed to translate well as lineart from the sketch and thought it'd be good practice. I'm pretty terrible at cellshading, so I went with a kind of hybrid style. I'm mostly happy with it, I suppose.

Time: 10-20 hours? Far too long.

I must agree with ShadowWulf. Gryphons are one of my favourite creatures, so bonus points right there :3 But this one here is simply gorgeous and the detail is just amazing. But what is also particularly beautiful about this picture is the background :) It fits in so well, I think.
