Black Flower Melody is a character from a homebrew fantasy setting I created. He is from an island far to the east called Kimon (essentially a fantasy version of Japan). His father was a wizard named Gartrist the Pantologist, who had an affair with a lady of a minor noble house while he was visiting Kimon. Black Flower (whose birth name was Noisy Squirrel) was born after Gartrist left Kimon, and faced considerable prejudice for being a half-breed as well as being born out of wedlock. Seeking peace of mind, he joined a monastic order where he learned extraordinary fighting techniques as well as disciplines of mind and body. When he came of age, he decided to seek out his father, who his mother told him had come from the land of Karnaltan, far to the west. He eventually found Gartrist living in the coastal metropolis of Valek City. Gartrist was surprised but pleased to learn he had a son, and two spent some time getting to know each other. Black Flower then set out of seek his fortune in Karnaltan, where his remarkable skills made him much in demand as a mercenary.
Black Flower Melody is a master of unarmed combat and thrown weapons. He is in peak physical condition, and is extremely quick and agile. He can fight weaponless, or using sai and nunchaku. He can deflect arrows, climb sheer walls, and move without making a sound. He also has complete control of his metabolism, able to slow his heart and breathing rate to the point where he would seem to be dead. By focusing his chi, or personal energy, he can stun opponents with a shout, leap distances that would seem impossible, or sense adversaries in total darkness. While he often seems cold and aloof, he does possess a wry sense of humor.
