Zorf is a character from a homebrew fantasy setting I created. Originally, he was a zeetvah, a demi-human race from Larry Elmore's comic Snarfquest, which was published in Dragon magazine back in the '80s. However, when I couldn't get permission to use the names of Elmore's races for a novel I was writing, I changed him to a species called a trog.
Zorf was a soldier in the Trog Valley Militia, charged with protecting his people from bandits and invaders. Since the lands around Trog Valley were relatively peaceful, Zorf had plenty of time to practice, and developed a two-weapon fighting technique with which he became quite proficient. When his term of service expired, Zorf married, used his savings to buy a farm, and settled down to spend the rest of his life growing crops. Eventually, he became a father. Then, one day while he was out, a group of orcs attacked his farm, killing his wife and infant son. Devastated, Zorf set out to track the orcs down. In the process, he encountered the wizard Gartrist the Pantologist, who decided to aid the grief-stricken trog in his quest for revenge. Together, they killed all the orcs responsible for the deaths of Zorf's wife and child, some quite gruesomely. However, revenge brought Zorf no pleasure or satisfaction. Numb and empty inside, he became a bounty hunter simply to earn enough money to go on living, but no longer really caring if he did or not.
Zorf is a trog, standing about five feet tall, with a slender build. He is naturally agile, and his senses of smell and hearing are exceptionally keen due to his long snout and large ears. He served as a soldier in his valley's militia for many years, and is an excellent swordsman, wielding two blades at once with equal dexterity. He is also knowledgeable in military discipline, small-unit tactics, and basic strategy.
