One of the most unique cases of unstable magic i have borne witness to in the war is the fate of the 44th Mountain gunner regimen. Through rigorous training and selection, the 44th also known as the "Highland Runners" boast a unique ability to maneuver through treacherous mountain terrain with surprising grace. This proved to be a winning strategy as they were assigned to hold a key choke point during the battle of the golden peak pass. They held on for hours on end fighting back an enemy force 5 times their size, not cannon nor lead shot could pin down the force as they deftly whittled down the enemy numbers. The 44th however met their end when the enemy mage released a mist of raw magic energy tearing asunder all life in the pass friend and foe alike. At the end of the battle only one survivor emerged, when questioned he was unsure of his name only that he was a member of the 44th. Upon physical examination the soldier appeared to have physical traits from various members of his fallen regimen, dental records, tattoos, scars, and even memories matching various individuals all seen on one single soldier. Upon realizing that there was no record of this soldier and fearing espionage the administration had decided to remove him from military service and declare the 44th wiped out. Rumor has it that the solder has gone into the adventuring/mercenary field and talk is that when he fights, dozens of spectral soldiers appear to fight along side him. These rumor are unsubstantiated of course but i do believe he is worth keeping track of. - Magos General Kharim, Department Head Mage of Postmortem Study

Thank you, i was watching videos on how matchlock rifles work to get it looking right! Yeah i figured i wish to slowly build part a larger universe piece by piece through these. Kinda using them to set the rules of the universe like technology level and how magic works etc.
