"Seeing how you mortals ruined this precious world in the time I've been away, life must be restored... selectively."
Piece from 2024.
The client of this character was one of my players for my Wednesday D&D campaign, "Homeworld". The setting is heavily inspired by "Dark Sun", so the centaurs and, by extension, horses, are more lizard-like.
This sheet was truly a labor of love. The client and I worked closely together to figure out their character and they've said that ever since being introduced to D&D, they've always wanted to play a centaur, but was afraid that the idea would be too weird. As a (mostly) forever DM, I welcome the weird! Whenever a player brings something new to the table that doesn't wholly exist in my settings isn't a sign to flat out say "no", but an opportunity to world build with them and make the campaign that much more rich. D&D (and many TTRPGs for that matter) is a game of collaborative storytelling with the chance of chaos at the roll of some dice.
It was pretty funny when the client filled out their commission form and in the description of their character, said, "you know the background better than I so I'll leave that up to you :3".
Additionally, this sheet was a leap forward in making the sheets thematic to the character, such as making the Feywild backdrop behind the middle-most text, the info on the right, and the raven skull color palette at the bottom. The reason why they're skulls and not something pretty like flowers is because she uses Defiling magic- siphoning the life from nature around her to fuel her spells. The spirits she summons from her Circle of the Shepherd subclass are her recalling the spirits of the dead animal friends she made earlier in her life. She's also known as "The Pale Dawn" because of her albino raven form (which couldn't fit on the sheet and wasn't intended as part of the piece, much to my dismay because birbs are awesome). I know that may not be wholly apparent, but I wanted to leave some mystery to her in regards of the other players seeing her art.
...yes, the idea of the Thri-Kreen paladin riding on her back has come up multiple times.
