Was hired a while back to draw the cover for a fantasy novel. Unfortunately, although the author liked it, it was rejected by the editor. The reasoning was that this image implied a children's book, while the novel itself is rather adult in tone (something I was never told). I find this ironic, given my own series is made for family audiences and my editor classified it as adult-oriented, so having my drawing said to look too child-friendly is something of a feather in my cap! I really put a lot of effort into this one, too. Oh, well, at least I got paid for my part. I'm not sure what the author will do since his book is now without a cover.
