The Ropers is an American sitcom television series that aired on ABC from March 13, 1979, to May 15, 1980. It is a spin-off of Three's Company and loosely based on the British sitcom George and Mildred, which was itself a spin-off of Man About the House, on which Three's Company was based.
It was taped at CBS Television City in the Fairfax District of Los Angeles, where its parent series, Three's Company, was taping at the time, from February to April 1979 (Season 1) and from July 1979 to February 1980 (Season 2). The show focuses on Stanley and Helen Roper, who were the landlords to the trio in Three's Company, before they sold the apartment complex and moved to an upstate townhosue in upmarket Cheviot Hills. This puts them at odds with their neighbors, the Brookes family; husband Jeffery is a snobbish realtor that butts heads with Stanley often, while his wife, Anne, does become friendly with Helen. They have a son, David, who is always tempted to bother Stanley, which his dad does not show approval of at any time.
