Done for an  Animancer Discord monthly image raffle. This month's theme was "beat the heat."

A little backstory. Back when I was in college, I took a photography class. One of the assignments was still life photography. I reaallly loved that assignment. I haven't really done any still life since then. At one point after college I wanted to try to do illustrating children books using still life. But nothing really came from that and I couldn't afford to do it anyway, nor had any kind of space to do it in. Well I still can't afford to do it or have space to do it in. For this image it got in my head to try the still life again. I was able to move enough things around in small apartment to just get some space to photograph the cars. (Finding the cars though was a whole other story. I drove for several hours going to various thrift stores looking for toy cars that would work but found nothing. Eventually I ended up at walmart and got the closest things I could get but had to paint the van.) I had quite a lot of fun doing the photos for this.
