Moonlight poured through the window, wrapping the room in silver. Ruby the striped liger, leaned back against the pillows, his paw resting in Jon's gentle grip.
“You make the night feel brighter than the day,” the fox whispered with a smile.
Ruby touched his cheek softly, eyes warm. “That’s because the night gives me you.”
In the hush of the world outside, their hearts beat together, and the simple silence became everything.
