I looked up a "all mario deaths" video to check foremost if mario said "mama mia!" when being defeated in any newer games, as I originally had that written in the last frame, but he says "ohonoooo" instead. However I was surprised to see at some point he did indeed resume jumping in the air and falling off the screen, AND with the vintage super mario bros jingle, even in 3d environments, though he also spins around sideways like in wrecking crew rather than remaining in the base teddy bear pose.
Yeah the games that were meant to be "new" versions of the old side-perspective SMB games continued the jumping in the air thing, like. New Mario DS, Wii, Mario Maker
I guess it wouldn't work so well in a fully 3D environment like 64 but I say that's cowards talk lmao

The pinecone gave it 2 out of 5 mostly for the entertainment during dinner hours.

Love your renditions of the characters and even though I never played any Mario
games this seems like a typical situation he'd get into. Also the Princess always struck

generally mario is only seen on adventures in hostile territory where jumping and shouting a lot may help in defeating or frightening foes, but perhaps like veteran soldiers or freed prisoners mario has difficulty outside of the dangerous situations he has adapted to survive in.
