Discovered in China during the 1980s, and named in 1993, the Monolophosaurus was a crested carnivore which lived during the Jurassic period. His name means "Single-crested Lizard", due to having a large crest on top of his head similar to the Dilophosaurus.
However, the Monolophosaurus, and Dilophosaurus are not related. He's more related to tetanurans, like the Allosaurus for example.
As a carnivore, the Monolophosaurus was also likely a scavenger. While he might've preyed on smaller animals, he probably also fed on carrion, which is decaying flesh of dead animals. His razor-sharp, serrated teeth were used tear and slice flesh of his prey.
