Because no other color like blue.

I've had this painting in my mind ever since I first saw the photos of these two birdies, and that was a long time ago, but I never got myself to draw it. Until now. I had it in mind because both those photos seemed so much like the half of a whole. The privilege of being an artist is that I can bring them together. I wonder what they talk about.
So these are the so-called Racket-Tailed Rollers, Coracias spatulatus, a beautiful bird from distant Africa I've never seen in my life. Like every Roller it belongs to the family of Rollers (what a shock), Kingfishers and Bee-Eaters, which is therefore one of the most awesome colorful families of birds I can think of, that even has its members in Europe too, and not just on the myriads of nameless tropical islands across the ocean. Among all those beauties, Rollers are awesome because they are blue.
