When the aquarium was first created, it was originally called Ocean Journey, with two separate "paths" you go on, and it is made to simulate wildlife from area to area as you went along the "journey". Each was a path of a river that lead to the ocean; the Colorado river and the Kampar River (the tunnel and the shark exhibits are the ending points of the two rivers, obviously). The lead-up to the tigers are Asian river fish (such as the giant gouramis and arowana), and the tigers are Sumatran tigers, which are found in Indonesia. Having them in our aquarium is not only for conservation of the endangered species, but also to help visitors get more of a feel for the wildlife along the Kampar.
I wish they mentioned these things more to visitors, but it's really quite an interesting setup.
