You see a strange eerie-looking creature approaching you. It wears an old diving helmet and carries a harpoon. You freeze and prepare for the worst. But you notice a faint light inside the helmet. This light gently illuminates your path. The creature silently helps you make your way back to the light. Before parting, it waves a clawed webbed paw at you. And remains in the darkness forever as you return to safety.

A few facts about them:

Their father is a large sea monster, and their mother is an ordinary kobold. They fell in love, but misfortunes began after the child was born, leading their home village to exile the mother. The family faced persecution, but the mother managed to carry the child to safety before both parents vanished without a trace.

This kobold is too different to live on land and too ill-adapted for life in the water. All their life, they have drifted between the two worlds they come from, never finding a place in either.

A dim light sometimes shines from the diving helmet, emitted by a glowing appendage. The kobold themself is somewhat nearsighted, so the helmet is worn for safety, as they often bump into walls.

The villagers where this kobold settled know who this being is, yet they are not afraid. They help in every way they can, and in return, the kobold brings them plenty of fish.
