a formulaic tune for a formulaic day. This one's new, I just wrote it. The next song I submit (Valentine Star) will be old. But it's much happier music ;p
P.S. Modplug + VST hybrid tune

The main part of it sort of reminds me of playing Deadly Arts for the N64, nobody really liked that game 'cept me ;-;
Overall it's catchy but nothing special except that I really like the riff you added in at the halfway point, really spiced it up and gave it some flare. Love the way you chose to do the note progression for that.

First, you need Modplug Tracker Wild (OpenMPT) release candidate 2. Then, on the bottom part of the main tab is the VST loading panel. Load a VSTi into the first bank. Then, go to the instruments panel. There should be a small panel called plugin/midi. From the drop down box, select the bank you loaded the VST. Then hit the editor button right beside it to play with the VST. You can press notes on your keyboard to test the sound. Once you have what you want you can then input the instrument as normal in the patterns window.
Be warned: Most mod effects do not work with VST's properly yet, notably volume effects, and pitch effects are also kind of screwy.
To use a VST effect is much harder -- for VSTi's you must create a pass-thru setup in the general tab of the tracked file. For samples to pass through an effect is totally different, and you must set a channel in the patterns window to have a sample-passthru for a certain effects bank.

Oh, by the way I'm not sure if you knew but there is a small VST called Chip32 that lets you draw simple wave forms and control several factors of them including bit depth. If I ever get the balls to use a tracker I'll probably be using that to make custom samples, gives alot of control over the sound.
