The elephant-footed pixies are a group of little folk with a name that reflects both their oddly-shaped feet and their brazen attitude.
They were once revered by other little folk for their ability to coordinate elaborate hunts against the much larger monsters in the forest that posed a genuine threat to the smaller beings. They built a reputation on making the forests a much safer place for the little folk to exist. They would also share their hunting knowledge and would even show other little folk how to craft objects from animal parts, using absolutely every part of the creature to ensure nothing went to waste.
At the dawn of the industrial revolution, the elephant-footed pixies found themselves completely outmatched by the march of industry. Soon their forests were levelled, their prey hunted to extinction and their entire history reduced to ashes. They found themselves untethered from time and place.
The close-knit clans became splintered, their centuries-old communal networks completely ripped apart. And with this new age came a grim realisation - if they wanted to survive in this new, cruel world, they would have to be just as cruel back to it.
A drastic cultural shift occurred among their people, their loyalty replaced with a poisonous in-group, out-group mentality, their sense of honour replace with petty barbarism. The remaining little folk grew tired of their obnoxious chest-beating and excessive displays of strength.
And with that, the rot eventually found its way into their cruel little hearts, sparking endless feuds among the different clans where the people would viciously slaughter each other for the pettiest reasons, further decimating their numbers.
Some of the pixies began to embrace the world's destruction and found their way to the concrete jungle, which quickly became a playground of slaughter where only the toughest would survive. But one thing has remained a constant throughout their long and troubled journey - their ability to craft. Among the trash, the pixies have started rediscovering their resourcefulness and a strange desire to once again share knowledge with others.
Some individuals have reluctantly laid down their weapons to craft together, realising that their shared need to create works as a great antidote to the influence of the rot. Others have even concluded that it is time to band together to hunt the cruellest beast of them all - the maggot queen.
