I've been there too. After a year of forcing it, I've become to be able to do 20-30 pushups.
I don't want increase it further, so I just do daily 20 or sometimes 30. That's enough to me, because I don't want to be strong, I just want to be healthy enough to carry the weekly shopping bags in one round.
It's useful.
