Enchantia is one of, if not the most famous, IPs of Red Eye Corporation. Created starting in the 1980s, Enchantia is a tabletop RPG in the style of D&D, but it also features a tabletop skirmish mode similar to Warhammer 40K. There are numerous playable miniatures to paint, official paint sets and tools to color said miniatures, game maps, miniature 3D components for those maps, gadgets, game dice sets, rulebooks, and more… There is also the official Enchantia collectible card game (TCG), which did not gain much popularity in the past but has recently experienced a sudden boom in popularity within the Enchantia fanbase.
Basically, Enchantia is set in a magical universe parallel to our own, where its inhabitants are anthropomorphic animal creatures (essentially Furry Characters), and there are several factions. The early aesthetic designs and official artwork from the 1980s were inspired by 80s cartoons. As for modern designs, I picture them as similar to those of Armello and the like. No fully humanoid designs like Beastars — I’m not a fan of that style.
The basic lore written by the folks at Red Eye Corporation was: Two parallel universes — our human world, and the magical world of Enchantia. That’s it. Nothing more.
But over the years, with the various editions and expansions, the lore has been greatly expanded and revised multiple times. There is an entire creative department at Red Eye dedicated specifically to the lore and writing of Enchantia. This is the lore so far:
Origin:
In the beginning, the world was one, united. There was never any creator deity at the foundation of it all — the universe was born from chaos, according to the laws of our universe as we know them through science, and with it, nature and biology gave rise to mortal life. “Magic” is known as Enchantium, and it is a part of the world’s physics and nature, just like everything else.
Mortal life was divided into two: the Enchantians, anthropomorphic creatures and animal-like beings (including strange magical animals); and the Normals, regular animals and us humans. The planet Earth itself was twice as large as it is now.
The Enchantians have Enchantium flowing within them, which allows them to use “magic”.
It was the first Enchantians who transcended: they became the first gods and immortal divine beings. And since there was only one unified world, these gods colonized nearby planets where they created their own kingdoms, and were free to descend among mortals, guide them along the righteous path, and live with them as equals.
The Normals, having no Enchantium within themselves, cannot use magic nor transcend into Gods.
Afterlife, Gods, and Transcendence:
In the world of Enchantia, to access the realm of the Gods, one must transcend; there are several ways to do so, but the most common is to “leave one’s name in history” — often by becoming a hero, a great commander, ruler, inventor... in short, a major historical figure. Other methods include: the Way of the Pilgrim, which involves undertaking a spiritual journey through sacred lands; the Way of the Monk: this means becoming a lifelong monk, following strict dogmas, renouncing pleasure, and dedicating oneself to prayer and meditation; or simply becoming famous — fame and popularity are converted into Enchantium; however, the most common and widely used way is simply to wait: Enchantium for transcendence accumulates in the soul with each reincarnation; the worst path, however — the most evil, dishonorable, and reliant on dark magic — is to steal Enchantium from the souls of others in order to transcend.
Those who transcend at the moment of death basically become immortal angel-like beings and may live among the Gods; these in turn are transcended souls more powerful than the rest. But if the soul of a transcended being is evil, the Enchantian in question becomes a “Demon” and is exiled for eternity into a “dark galaxy” within a black hole. Those who fail to transcend at the time of death are sent to the “Purgatory Planet”, a dark and terrifying realm — but neutral, neither good nor evil — where they await reincarnation into a new life, trapped in an infinite loop of Death and Rebirth.
Normals, especially us humans, cannot transcend and all end up on the Purgatory Planet. But… all souls that arrive on the Purgatory Planet are still judged, and the most wicked souls of all are deemed unworthy of reincarnation. They are cast for eternity into the Dark Galaxy alongside the Demons, where their eternal fate remains unknown even to the Gods themselves. This judgment exists to prevent the creation of new Demons.
All souls, both Enchantian and Normal, reincarnate as Enchantians, under any circumstance. Therefore, all Enchantians were originally reincarnated Normals. Meanwhile, the souls of Normals that are yet to be born are generated by a “mysterious and unknown something” hidden at the center of the galaxy — never clarified or explained in the official game lore manuals.
The 4th Transcended One to reach godhood, Wendigo King, established his rule over the Purgatory Planet, becoming the first Sovereign and judge of the afterlife. But he abused his power in the afterlife and was corrupt: he stole Enchantium from innocent souls to force transcendence, gave it to whomever he pleased, and allowed unworthy beings to transcend. He never liked the Normals, seeing them as inferior creatures. Some of the Gods’ observers suspected he was organizing an army of undead to invade the realm of the Gods.
Relations Between Enchantians and Normals:
The Normals, especially humans, did not look kindly upon the Enchantians: they were jealous, as the latter were stronger, had gods who protected them, and could use magic. On the other hand, Enchantians have always held dominance over Normals — the various gods and heroes from mythologies around the world were, in fact, Enchantians, and some of them used that power and influence to impose their will on the Normals.
So, the Normals created their own gods and cults, which came into conflict with the Enchantians. These cults branded the Enchantians as Demons and monsters, saw magic as the devil’s work, placed humans at the center of all things, labeled the Transcended as false gods and demons, and condemned the act of transcending as heresy.
The Fragmentation:
During the Earthly Middle Ages, humans launched a war against the Enchantians. But then it was Wendigo King’s turn — he launched his assault on the entire universe, leading an army of Undead and unleashing terrible plagues and pestilences upon the Mortals. And the humans were of no help: they blamed all the Enchantians for the plague, intensifying their war.
The situation was so dire that the Gods decided to take a more drastic solution: to separate the universe. So they took a large golden nail, a hammer from the divine forge, and a crystal mirror, unique and special in its kind, which showed the entire universe in real time. The nail, with the hammer, was used like a chisel, with its tip at the center of the mirror. But something went wrong, and instead of splitting into two, the mirror broke into five fragments, and in doing so, the entire universe split into five separate twin universes. By doing so, Wendigo King was separated from his army, and left alone with the Gods; they arrested and tried him, stripped him of his divine power, reduced him to the level of a mortal, and exiled him to the mortal plane.
Now:
The Normals and mortal Enchantians are now divided into two separate universes.
By the will of the Gods, every trace of the Enchantians was erased from human history and memory. History itself was rewritten so that, for humans, the Enchantians never existed.
But even the Gods were separated from the mortals. The divine realms are now separated from the mortal ones, and are even divided among themselves. The Gods and the Transcended can no longer walk freely among the Mortals; they can no longer guide them, nor sit at the table and eat with their mortal descendants. Now, there are bonds, gates, and bars that keep them apart.
The New Realms are divided into: the universe of the Mortals, the universe of Enchantia, the universe of the Gods and the Immortals, the realm of Purgatory, and the dark realm of Demons and wicked souls.
There is now a new Goddess ruling over Purgatory, but Red Eye has not released enough lore about it. The realm of Purgatory and the dark realm of the Demons have never been explored in the official lore.
And this is the entire history of Enchantia. Now we begin to talk about the factions of Enchantia, one at a time, with corresponding screenshots. They are divided into factions, which are mainly associated with the official themes of PlanCo.2 (to make my work easier). The society is mainly a “classic medieval fantasy” with Steampunk/WoodPunk technologies, except for some factions with a more advanced technological level that use futuristic sci-fi technologies.
