                    Part 2
Hey all! I recently got into working on the lore for some of my characters, and I began thinking of putting it into a story. So I'll post it here as a series as I get it done. Feel free to comment about what you like and dislike - I might be able to use it in future parts of the story :D
I hope you enjoy it!

Part 1 - The Mythical Realm
I have had the fortune of travelling to a great variety of kingdoms and societies, and I enjoy very much studying their customs, habits, social hierarchies, and all the functions of foreign lands. It is my conviction that all societies, including our own, dear reader, can benefit from learning about how other countries, states, and realms have organised themselves.
Some would use this knowledge for military dominion, but I believe that we can enhance our own society by learning from others. Both from a mercantile perspective, but also to educate our own people, to improve our own way of living by using techniques and customs from these other realms.
As such, throughout my extensive travels, I have sought to put down in writing my learnings, so that they may be read by any soul curious to learn of foreign societies and customs. This book you are about to read, is about the faraway overseas kingdom of Solunara.
I will try to describe the realm and its society in a manner so that you may find it engaging: Far too much knowledge tends to get lost because the author presents it in a boring, mindnumbing fashion. Thus, I will present my findings as a compendium of my experiences in Solunara, but I am afraid that some knowledge can only be presented expositionally. Therefore, I hope you will bear with me as you read along: Some chapters might be more engaging for you, but the knowledge presented in every chapter is just as important.
Before I present my findings, I want you to know as much about Solunara as I did, before my expedition. I believe that this will provide ample ground for you to have the same learning experience of this realm as I had.
Solunara is not a realm that our society has much interaction with. It lies on the other side of the Great Western Ocean, and as such, mostly merchants have any contact with beings from that realm. However, most of the merchants in our regions have never met a being from Solunara, as most of their knowledge comes from other merchants. Our basic knowledge of Solunara is thus from tales and stories gone through many mouths, so the realm has an almost mythical status in our geographical history.
What every story about this realm tells us, however, is that Solunara is a kingdom from ancient times. It has existed for as long as anyone can remember. But Solunara is not a kingdom in the way that we know it. The kingdom is what we call a diarchy. Most kingdoms, including our own, are monarchies, where one sovereign leads the realm. Solunara is ruled by two kings. Not simultaneously, mind you! One king rules by day, while the other rules by night.
This gives way for a range of questions, such as how does that work in practice? How did that arrangement come to be? How long has this way of governing been the norm for Solunara? What came before the diarchy? What keeps the kingdom from ripping in two if the kings disagree with each other? What kinds of culture thrives under this form of rule? What kinds of traditions and norms did this constellation beget? How does this rule affect their foreign affairs? How do neighbouring realms perceive Solunara on a national and cultural basis?
The tales of the twin kings are supported by jewellery said to come from Solunara. Either, the jewellery reflects the dichotomy of night and day, or it bears or resembles to lions, one in gold, and one in silver, presumably representing this Day King and Night King, respectively.
Some myths claim that the Kingdom of Solunara has existed since the dawn of time itself, where the Day King and the Night King were born from the joining of the skies from a celestial lion’s roar. These two brothers are said to be the living personifications of day and night, and their rule is responsible for the turning of the skies.
While it is a nice legend to tell our youngs, it seems highly unlikely that these kings should be divine in any aspect. After all, sciences have provided ample explanation to matters and phenomena that in the past had been considered magic, or the work of the gods. But tales persist of the Kingdom of Solunara to this day, so I decided to venture out and see for myself this realm. Is this kingdom perhaps behind in scientific knowledge and exploration so that they still consider simple phenomena as magical or divine. Is it deliberate for these kings to keep the society in that belief so they can remain in power? And how many of these kings have been there, if there are any kings left? Perhaps Solunara has become a republic or a monarchy today.
With this plethora of questions and a mind full of curiosity, I decided to pick up the task to uncover the history of Solinara. I hope you will find this compendium as enriching and engaging as I found my travels to this great land.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
