Ever wonder why furries really like foxes? Like seriously? Why?

A whole planet full of strange creatures and interesting things to relate to and people select this creature that is neither dog nor cat.

It's literally the MOST popular animal to base characters and fursonas off of, and why is that? Is there a deeper connection to this strange vulpine biomachine or is the answer much more mundane? Why not a wolf or a dhole????

This was observed through art spanning back into the early 90s so it clearly is not a modern tragedy. It defies all logic I tell you.
