Geoffrey is able to control the shadows and manipulate those around him if need be. It does take it out of him when used for too long or not maintained and since the fight between "Weres" and "Vamps" was long over Geoffrey no longer needed to really us or maintain his powers, until his brother Ash came back and he had to follow him to make sure he didn't get into trouble.
