My Drawtober 2025: Practicing moods and expressions
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Meet the 'pretty boy'*1, the ancient Egyptian deity Nefertum, enjoying a patch of lillies.
His role and domains vary, depending where or when you are in ancient Egypt.
I will go with the variant where he was seen as son of Sekhmet, goddess of healing, vengeance and war. But he does not quite take after his mother. Instead, he is more into flowers, handling aromatherapy and ointments.
[EDIT]: Dang. Maybe I should not color and upload when I am already bleary-eyed - I just realized he is missing a finger. 🥲
*1 This isn't meant in a derogatory way: To my knowledge, "nefer" is ancient Egyptian for "pretty" or "beautiful". And he is usually depicted as a beautiful young man - with the occasional lion head 😉
