no.23: Gregg the Grim Reaper - Conker's Bad Fur Day

From one Greg to another...

In an earlier post I stated that I had a few weak spots when it came to Halloween imagery. One of the things I neglected to mention was the Grim Reaper. Well less of a weak spot per say, more just my favorite monster trope. I suppose it's the combination of a cool design with the overall finality of death itself that puts it in that spot for me. As such, I find the lampooning of something so serious to be hilarious. This is the exact reason I made a comic series based entirely around it and in a lot of ways I owe the overall start of high School Death Party to Gregg, as initially the main character of the series was going to be a diminutive, hotheaded reaper similar to him. Obviously I went in a very different direction, but it still brings me back to a time where I was still planning out the series.

It's because of this that I still have a soft spot for ole' Gregg-(Not to be mistaken with Old Gregg, of course!)-and it's a shame he doesn't feature more in the game, but I suppose that;s for the best? You don't want too much of a good thing...then again, I also don't care much for Conker's Bad Fur Day as a whole and I would just rather have him appear all over the place! Sorry but a tiny, cursing, underpaid specter of death is hilarious to me, but we've already established that I have the humor of a deranged five-year-old, so what do you expect? I'm a man of simple tastes at the end of the day~
