Day 10 of Inktober

"By the names of kings, gods, oaths, vows and any reason one can dream, imagine or conjure, one can sweep his sins under the proverbial rug to make room for more."

"But you swore an oath, how could you break it with such ease!"

Uncomfortable stretching pause

"I slew a hundred men when the nobles chased me across the country, three times as many in the name of the king thereafter. I was a humble street sweeper when I was young, I made a choice... I don't enjoy killing, but when necessary or righteous, it's just a chore like any other."

Another long pause

"But why do you get to decide who lives or dies? What gives you or any man before our lord the RIGHT!"

The man turns to face the girl

"I never said I had a right to it, but I'm afraid I value the life I've lived over those I'm told to kill, my life or theirs I am offered a choice...one life or two... I'll take account for my choices, when the time comes,what's the point of free will when you can't make the wrong one..."
