Title from Orphan Black
I got SwiftYuki in an art exchange where this time we drew icons/avatars. I still don't think I'm good at those but here's a thing nonetheless! This is featuring their character Alcyoneus.

Oh, yes of course that would be in order. This is a brief rabbit hole:
"Endless Forms Most Beautiful
by Sean B. Carroll" is a book written by a molecular biologists that deconstructs evolution in a more susinct way that allows us to comprehend that the genetics and evolutionary development of all living organisms come from pre-existing foundational building blocks. Prior, the language used was a bit off-putting or dense. Simply, rather than create brand new flashy building blocks, nature commands order into reality from pre-existing possibilities within embryonic development. "New traits" are pulled from a set of possibilities that exist, so arent exactly "new" in a sense, as nature already decided they are possible. The work was published in 2005 and proceeded to become a smash hit in the scientific community. It apparently raised enough noise for Nightwish to name their 2015 Album after it (they were going to name it after the Greatest Show On Earth track but wanted a more humble/graceful title)
The album is basically an ode to science and evolution, a departure from the prior studio album "Imaginarium" which dealt more within the realms of fantasy and the supernatural. Nightwish also released a film with the same title, about an aging composer with dementia reflecting on his life while traveling through a world of memory and imaginary thought.
Endless Forms Most Beautiful is not my absolute favorite track off the album, but I love the whole album (the art for it is sick) and my personal favorite is actually "Shudder Before the Beautiful". I would absolutely reccomend listening to each track in order, but "Greatest Show on Earth" is a majestic 24 minutes long and is a fantastic piece of oratory poetry to human life on earth.

Oh wow, thanks so much for that rabbit hole, actually! I don't typically listen to Nightwish but there are a few songs I do really like and have revisited a few times over the years, so I'm happy to go enjoy a recommended album. But I appreciate you typing that exposition because that must be the same origin of inspiration for the episode of Orphan Black I named this piece after (not that there is a particular significance, I just name the drawing after something I was watching at the time). Orphan Black is a contemporary sci-fi series revolving around a group of identical-looking main characters who are unknowingly part of a eugenics/cloning project.
