Zack mage apprentice, He was born to a merchant owner. As such it was expected he would be taking over the family business as the first born. Sure there might be a few other siblings but he was saddled with the expectations of being the inheritor. However Zack didn't want this, the natural ability of his family was the enhanced learning ability which was good for being a merchant for intaking knowledge about different places and that they could sell at places certain goods to make the most money.

Though the other side of this was that this was the perfect ability to learn magic. And yes magic in this world takes knowledge to be able to cast spells. And knowing the incantations. Though there is a draw back. After becoming a mage, one might expect the marriage of knowledge would bring forth great magic power. But this was not the case. And sadly even with a good master, he has had issues growing.

But his lack of mana has been a boon for enchanting. see a stronger mage would burn an item with a single powerful enchantment. While his weak mana might not do a lot. but its small incremental enchantments build upon itself and made greater enchants than the greater mage burning the enchant once.

So in a way this is a blessing since he knows about this little secrete.
