There's a lot of 'coming out' tales that are important to us. Sometimes its our sexuality, sometimes it's our gender. These are moments of vulnerability; of opening up a part of ourselves that is so deep inside us it can be a conduit to our very souls. Through these revelations, we can be easily hurt, or warmly delighted, and that is why such tales of coming out are held with such gravitas and respect. Coming out can lead to derision, to isolation, or acceptance, purely because the topics that necessitate a coming out are meaningful, and powerful, and at their core - a part of who we are.
