This is the sketch of a composition exercise done for the illustration course I'm doing.
We had to choose a mythological character and do an illustration (focusing on composition) that fitted a certain space. Mine was this thin tall space, much like a bookmark.
The finished version will be done in a mid-grey cardboard with white and black polychrome pencils.

the theme is great and I love the perspective with the foreboding mino above the terrified people below in the lab was a nice touch. Drooling mouth with soulless eyes really adds the tension to the piece. I LOVE the aura around the minos head, It attracts the eye but the detail in the neck leads the viewer to the rest of the imposing piece. In this work, I am most please. I can't wait to see the finished product.
I actually had to look up composition when I saw this because I totally forgot what it was.
Honestly, I don't understand it that well, so it's hard to say much. I get the whole trying to make your themes fit together in your picture, but I didn't realize that was like... An actual science. I just kinda do it.
