Though they had only met maybe an hour before, the two Meowscaradas Maple and Hachi stood back-to-back ready to take on the invading Pokemon that began to rush into the cave. The two had met while Maple was working on a magic circle, testing a magic she had newly researched and wanted to try it out. Hachi had wandered in, curious about what the scraping noise they had heard when walking nearby was. Upon seeing Hachi in the corner of her eye, Maple bolted up with a magic spell precisely aimed at Hachi's chest, ready to loose. However, she did not loose the spell and instead dispelled it. She saw in Hachi's hand what appeared to be a miniature black-board, and on it was written "Heya! What's that circle thingy your making?" Maple, seeing that Hachi was here out of curiosity for the magic circle she was making, decided to explain it in a brief manner to Hachi. "That sounds interesting! Can I help out?" were the words that Hachi spelled out on the blackboard next. Maple was going to refuse, someone without magic knowledge would cause the spell to go awry from their mistakes after all, but then she noticed that the board Hachi wrote on was made of magic, she assumed it was shadow magic but wasn't one hundred percent on that. She thought about it for a minute before agreeing to allow Hachi to help. The two worked extraordinarily well together. Maple would continue drawing the circle and Hachi would send out their shadows to bring material back that they were missing and then place them were Maple told them to. Towards the end of the hour, the circle was complete and Maple began the chant to activate the magic. As she was chanting, the howl of a Houndoom leading a pack of Houndour echoed at the entrance of the cave. Instinctively, the two went back to back, Hachi summoning their shadow minions and Maple preparing her spells for the moment the Pokemon came into sight. The two were calm and confident, knowing that with each other there they'd make it through without any trouble.
