This pencil drawing is a birthday present to my friend Lari!
The picture shows his character “Razen Hashikado”, a blue-skinned anthro dragon warrior.
It was the FIRST time for me to draw a picture with coloured pencils (and acrylics) on a black canvas paper… and I LOVE the result!
Happy birthday, buddy! *hugs*
Media Used:

Heeey, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment! How do you do? ^^
Well, you see... I always try to improve myself. Yes, even I (like anyone else) can still improve... or better: HAS TO improve! If we don't at least explore new techniques, we would always step on the same point. ^^"
Anyway, it is a rather difficult technique... but very rewarding.

You check all my CARTOON STYLE artworks first. I've practised shading and lighting a lot in the past time. So, finally, I'm able to figure out how shades work effectivly.
In this new step, I have ONLY drawn the illuminated parts of the character and left the dark ones EMPTY (and let the black paper do it's job).
Yeah, that's it... basically.

In some ways, it reminds me why artists chose to paint on black velvet with rich acrylics. So strikingly bold contrasts in color, such irreproducible texture. This has many of those fine qualities, but has the skill and imaginative talent I've never seen use the medium before. Cliche or not… something like that in a gallery would scream at me DO WANT.
Your art is as stunning as always, and I just love when you do it old school Patric.
I even like the little detail of hair in his ear. ^^
The spark in the armour, the excelent eyes and his over all awesomely detailed chin is just giving mee goose bumps of adoration.
Keep up your inspireing work man, for your the best!

The eyes are indeed a marvelous treat to the eye, and you are skillfull to pull it of as remarkeble as you did.
And now I also feel dumb for not being able to see that it was no hair in the ears but just a transition of scale colors. *Was tired and didn't see as well as I thought I did*
But now I can atleast adore it better.
And I say thank YOU for making such awesome pieces of art.
