Au'Torms, Second of Mor'Chai
Codename: Au'Torms, the Creator (AKA the Mechanic)
Second Construct of Mor'Chai
Powers include savant levels of engineering, deep understanding of systems biological and mechanical, minor energy attacks
Once upon a time, there was a father who made a deal with Church of Night. For untold power and prestige, he would give up his first born son. The power hungry fool he was, he accepted, only to die the following day. The deal was not suitable to Mor'Chai, the priests told the wife, and the Lord of the Night smothered him in his sleep. The priests still honored the deal—they held on to the child and marked him as a Priest while the widowed mother was showered with prestige.
From an early age, the child showed a wondrous talent of dismantling and reconstructing machines. Deadly devices to others were harmless toys to him. His mother was suitably impressed and took him to the priests to demonstrate. After one show, they immediately put him into the GearCorps, a guild of artificers and engineers, for further education. During this time, he ran into an apprentice voidmage, and the two hit it together. (A few years later, they included a certain scarred boy into their fold.)
As he advanced into his studies, he found many similarities between machines and biological systems, and he investigated the latter in secret, first experimenting on corpses and then the living. The Church, still smarting from the voidmage's discoveries at the time, let him. This lead to Au'Torms' discoveries in mechanical reanimation, something that came in very useful with the early days of the war. During this time, he began experimenting on himself, using a recent incident of his arm being sliced off during a skirmish as an excuse. Using his considerable knowledge, he created a mechanical replacement arm, which lead in turn to a gear-laden mask that fused to his skin. Impressed by such a feat, Mor'Chai deemed him his Second Construct, blessing him with a greater understanding of mechanical and biological processes.
As the war progressed, he grew intrigued by The Shifter's genetic structure, and he decided to create a biological weapon/armor based off the shifting properties of the Construct's cells. The events that followed led to M'Inchros' rebellion, which in turn led to an order from the Night's Counsel to Au'Torms to put him in his place. Au'Torms, desperate not to lose his title, devised a city-wide plague bomb in the body of an Avatar. The plan went horribly awry, the contagion mutating and becoming more virulent as it spread across the globe.
Afterwards, Mor'Chai found him with The Summoner, and with The Shifter, asked the Great Father to seal them away....
