This one was brought about by something recent. Long ago I remember playing this game Warship Gunner 2 and one of the aircraft that always caught my attention in the game was this large attacker aircraft. Fast, loads of bombs, simplistic shape, and always the pick for me on harder missions because of that speed means that it stayed in my mind quite easily. The thing is, that I could never find the name of the thing when I wanted to learn more about it. I think the game called it a B-73 V? Either way I could never find it online and I didn't have a Janes just laying around to compare silhouettes to so chalked it up to one of the few fantasy aircraft in the game.
Fast-forward until a few weeks ago and a familiar shape started to show up again. In a sudden rush of Youtube videos, they were talking about the A-5 Vigilante. Hang on, B-73 V, vigilante... eyep, turned out to be the very same thing from all that time ago.
Cue a few hours more of videos, searching and just general looking up of it and man, the thing really did live up to it's (Potential!) reputation in game, even somehow being truly carrier capable as the game had things like B-1s and B-17 able to take off from your carrier.
So it's been on my mind lately and after a talk with a friend, a joke that went on to become reality, and a need to draw the chubby aircraft again led us here as Aero Lu here would have had a high probability of being a A-5 himself if I had known more about it back when I first created him.
And besides, who wouldn't dream about not only being one of the bigger flying things out there but also being among some of the fastest as well?
