Also I know you established that their voices stayed with their bodies and not their minds, but I can't help but imagine Brand in Saida speaking with a deeper voice and Saida in Brand speaking in a higher pitched voice

Who knows. Maybe the puppetmancer has always been a loyal servant of the Quetz Queen she used the Orb™️to swap the previous puppetmancer into the the birds body, so his identity is hidden and she has a loyal servant masuerading as one of the birds.
