In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, some mutants prove their loyalty and worth to the Imperium of Man by serving in the Astra Militarum. Part of the Abhuman Auxilla, beastmen and other mutants fight and die to earn the Emperor's forgiveness. Some eventually fall to the corruption within, turning to Chaos or succumbing to further mutation. Others, through will or faith, yet endure to prove themselves on the field of battle.

Alexios, rumored to be of noble origin, is one of the few abhumans to earn the rank of officer and lead his auxiliary unit into battle personally. Like any true Imperial, he knows what he must find on the battlefield in the Emperor's name:
