Winter, even with the fire burning brightly the air was still cold enough for Jenny to see her breath. Her sister Rebecca sat beside her, entranced by the flames. It was late, their parents were at a party and unlike most siblings they were not fighting, not this time. This cabin was too small to fight in, one twin bed, one double bed then a kitchenette, everything else was in an unheated attached lean-to. So they sat, watched the fire and wondered how many days before Kristi Kringle would toast her toes coming in.
