This is a portrait for an NPC of a short lived D&D Campain I was running on the side. His name was Warden Griefmourner, one of the rangers of the Quickborn Valley.
He was killed by the party in Session 1.
He was designed to be a helpful ranger for the party since a big party of the campaign was going to be the exploration of the wilds. And the Rogue killed him. Unprompted. It was kind of all downhill from there.
To be fair, I guess my party was a little gun shy at the idea of an NPC that frequently chatted with the party - a 'DMPC', I guess is what he was, even though despite the leather armor & archery set, he wasn't meant to be a combatant - at least, not much of one. I planned to keep him OUT of combat unless the party really wanted his help. He was, at best, a sidekick.
The vibe just kept deteriorating after that and at session 3, the game was on life support & we all knew it. So, we just ended it & didn't drag it on.
C'est la vi~
