I agree. But I love there smell.

I've gotten so close to wild skunks at work I could reach down and touch them, I read their body language and have a calm demeanor around ild animals unless its something that's potentially going to kill me [large kitties mainly] but if you get excited or dont read their body language you're gonna scare em off. its best to approach them when they are foraging, they are pretty bold thn cause they're hungry ebnough to keep looking but they'll book if you chase them. Maybe some skunk safe foods? They wont take it from your hand right away unless they are used to being fed, but after a few nights of giving them incentive to not outright distrust you, they'll warm up and be okay. Skunks spray when they feel they are in immediate and otherwise unavoidable danger of death and severe bodily harm [hurrhurr Concealed weapons in the butt :P].

Skunk only spary if there going to die. If your being ass to them. They will run off.

I'd say this was a lucky moment for you.
