Oh hey look it’s November 1st again, which means International Self Portrait Day and time to draw myself for the occasion!
This year’s portrait is an homage to Esao Andrews’ painting, On Letting Go: (https://images.squarespace-cdn.com/content/v1/5977fb93d7bdcee0e2b55aef/1502141783326-13XEUZLHZAM5WMJDBEYQ/LettingGo_19x23_2007.jpg?format=750w)
This year has hurt a lot. Despite that, letting go has brought me a profound sense of peace, relief, and joy. Though admittedly I’m kicking myself for having waited so damn long to move on. Five years too late, but better late than never.

I really like the color palette on this! I think the slightly darker reddish colors really push this into a very interesting place. There is a lot going on though, it feels like I should be commenting more than just the colors but I'm so impressed how perfect all the colors are working
A bit late, but absolutely stunning piece. The lighting and the coloring are stellar, I really thought for a moment that it was a traditional paiting with the ways color blend and with the grain of the "paper".
And of course the symbolism, it is a fitting sequel to the painting you shared. The balloon behind you and the dark atmosphere replaced by a morning (or evening ?) light with rays of hope.
I don't know why things have been rough for you, but I do emphasize nonetheless. The two past years have been the most difficult of my life, and it feels like my life has been collapsing. And I struggle a lot to let go of the one I loved. I don't know if tomorrow will be brighter than today, but all we can do is push fowards.

Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm sorry to hear you are going through a challenging time as well, its brutal to watch the things you've built fall apart, but you're right we just gotta keep moving forward and seeking joy where we can find it. Again, thank you so much for this comment, it means a lot!
