In a reversal of my last month piece I spent most of my time creating the back ground and only a few days on the subject, But I put a lot of thought into this gargoyle, Doing "organic" shading is more challenging than the simpler geometric shapes of a robot.
When a had completed most of the statue I wanted to overlay a stony or concrete texture over it. I never really played around with filters in Inkscape mostly because a cant do perspective warps on them, but wanted to experiment. I first tried "film grain" and I though it was perfect and didn't' bother looking further. I overlayed other grime and weathering effects and surprised myself. I really need to do more with filters.
